Configuring a PPPoE connection in Windows EN
Setting up a PPPoE (Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet) connection in Windows is relatively straightforward.
Follow these steps to configure a Dial-Up PPPoE connection:
Step 1: Prepare Your Information
Make sure you have the following details provided by your Internet Service Provider (ISP):
- Username:
- Password:
Step 2: Start the Configuration
- Click the Start button and select Settings.
- Go to Network & Internet.
Step 3: Add a New Dial-Up Connection
- In the Network & Internet settings, click on Network and Sharing Center.
- Choose Set up a new connection or network.
- In the wizard that appears, select Connect to the Internet and click Next.
- Choose Broadband (PPPoE) as the connection method and click Next.
Step 4: Configure the Connection
- Enter a name for the connection (e.g., My PPPoE).
- Type in the Username and Password provided by your ISP.
- If required, enter the Service Name (optional).
- Check the box Remember this password if you want Windows to save it.
- Click Connect to finish the setup.
Step 5: Connect to the Internet
Now your Dial-Up PPPoE connection is configured. To connect to the internet:
- Click the Start button and select Connect to.
- Choose the previously created Dial-Up PPPoE connection and click Connect.
- Windows will attempt to establish the connection using the PPPoE protocol.
Troubleshooting
If the connection fails:
- Double-check your Username and Password.
- Make sure your computer is properly connected to the router or modem.
- Restart your computer and try to connect again.
- Contact your ISP if the problem persists.
Disconnecting from the Internet
To disconnect:
- Click on the Network icon in the system tray (notification area).
- Select your PPPoE connection and click Disconnect.
