Configuring a PPPoE connection in Windows EN

Setting up a PPPoE (Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet) connection in Windows is relatively straightforward.
Follow these steps to configure a Dial-Up PPPoE connection:


Step 1: Prepare Your Information

Make sure you have the following details provided by your Internet Service Provider (ISP):

  • Username:
  • Password:

Step 2: Start the Configuration

  1. Click the Start button and select Settings.
  2. Go to Network & Internet.

Step 3: Add a New Dial-Up Connection

  1. In the Network & Internet settings, click on Network and Sharing Center.
  2. Choose Set up a new connection or network.
  3. In the wizard that appears, select Connect to the Internet and click Next.
  4. Choose Broadband (PPPoE) as the connection method and click Next.

Step 4: Configure the Connection

  1. Enter a name for the connection (e.g., My PPPoE).
  2. Type in the Username and Password provided by your ISP.
  3. If required, enter the Service Name (optional).
  4. Check the box Remember this password if you want Windows to save it.
  5. Click Connect to finish the setup.

Step 5: Connect to the Internet

Now your Dial-Up PPPoE connection is configured. To connect to the internet:

  1. Click the Start button and select Connect to.
  2. Choose the previously created Dial-Up PPPoE connection and click Connect.
  3. Windows will attempt to establish the connection using the PPPoE protocol.

Troubleshooting

If the connection fails:

  • Double-check your Username and Password.
  • Make sure your computer is properly connected to the router or modem.
  • Restart your computer and try to connect again.
  • Contact your ISP if the problem persists.

Disconnecting from the Internet

To disconnect:

  1. Click on the Network icon in the system tray (notification area).
  2. Select your PPPoE connection and click Disconnect.
